The Students Union at UWE | Bags and Baggage | Sense of Belonging | Organised by Bethel Ekaette.

John emphasizes the impact of emotional baggage on our mental health and well-being. He highlights how our past experiences shape our present behavior and emotions, and how this baggage can hinder personal growth and development. The talk challenges conventional approaches to mental health and addresses anxiety and depression as common manifestations of emotional baggage. John explains that coping mechanisms and labels often do not provide long-term solutions, and he encourages individuals to focus on releasing stored emotions instead. He introduces a repeatable process to identify and release negative emotions, promoting a path towards embracing the present and fostering connections with others. The talk concludes with the importance of living in the moment and supporting one another to achieve a more fulfilling and balanced life. As a mechanical engineer, John started his career making machinery more productive, and he soon realised that people were the real key to productivity. Solving people problems led him to the world of emotions and the understanding that material success is nothing without emotional success. For the past 12 years he has been helping people to release unresolved negative emotions – the quickest path to emotional success. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
