Walking with a rollator can
Walking with a rollator can either bring you confidence and safety 👊🏻 OR make you feel unstable, uncertain, pain, and isolation.
So… choosing the RIGHT rollator for you is very important & not something to take lightly.
Here’s 4 things ⬇️ you can look for when choosing your rollator to ensure the best fit & stability:
1️⃣ Adjustable height — being able to move the hand rests higher & lower allows you to find the right fit depending on what shoes you’re wearing (or not wearing)!
2️⃣ Stability — your rollator should feel sturdy and stable when you put weight through your arms… especially if you tend to put a lot of weight through your arms/upper body.
It shouldn’t rock back and forth (and you shouldn’t hear any creaking as you bring your legs forward).
3️⃣ Easy to push — make sure your rollator rolls easily… you shouldn’t feel like it gets stuck or pushes back against you as you’re taking steps forward.
4️⃣ Easy to lift — if you’re going to be lifting your rollator into/out of your car, up/down the stairs, in/out of a closet, or anywhere… make sure you’re able to lift it easily!
Otherwise it can throw you off balance or worse… result in isolating yourself since you can’t safely move the way you want/need.
My favorite rollator that hits all these points is any of the byACRE rollators — the one shown here is their Scandinavian Butler.
Comment below ⬇️ if you use a rollator and/or a different mobility aid!
