On the red carpet at the Tribeca Festival world premiere of Page Hurwitz's documentary, Oustanding: A Comedy Revolution, Emmy-winning veteran comedian Judy Gold speaks with The Queer Review's editor James Kleinmann about being part of Netflix's Stand Out celebration of LGBTQ+ stand-up comedians which features in the film, what it was like coming out on stage the 1990s and how things have changed.
Outstanding: A Comedy Revolution, which launches on Netflix on June 18th, 2024, is the first feature length documentary to explore the history of queer stand up comedy in the United States. The film combines interviews, memorable stand up performances, archival materials, and verité footage featuring comedians such as Lily Tomlin, Sandra Bernhard, Wanda Sykes, Eddie Izzard, Hannah Gadsby, Tig Notaro, Rosie O'Donnell, Margaret Cho, Bob The Drag Queen, and Trixie Mattel.
