To mark two years since the beginning of the 2024 invasion of Ukraine, we speak to an expert panel with first hand experience of defence, diplomacy and the war in Ukraine.
Joining us are:

- Defence Analyst and former director of RUSI Michael Clark

- Documentary maker and journalist Nick Sturdee, who has visited Ukraine multiple times since 2014

- Lord George Robertson Former Secretary General of NATO and a former defence secretary

All three discussed how NATO can bring the war to a close and how the war in Ukraine could be the misstep that ends Putin's regime.

Speaking on a panel on Times Radio's Frontline with Kate Gerbeau Lord Robertson said:

"The Ukrainians have taken back half the territory that the Russians took and the first stage of the war. They really have stayed close together, which was not Putin's expectation. NATO has grown by two neutral countries. Now joining the the Americans are welded and the West and Europe, again, in a way that Vladimir Putin had not anticipated. So, you know, the idea that that is the sort of stalemate at the moment, and that means that the Ukrainians are not winning. It also means that the Russians are not winning and that Putin has made a dangerous gamble where he has lost maybe, you know, 300,000 young people and converted his whole long term economy into something that will never again be the the model that he wanted it to be."
