This video is of us shooting the Ruger Alaskan chambered in 454 casull. We nicknamed this pistol the fire breathing dragon, and I think after watching the slow motion footage you will see why.
This video was shot on our private, insured range. All shooters in this video are trained professionals and are pistol instructors. This video is NOT for children.
Warning - The 454 casull is a VERY powerful round, and in a small/light revolver has a dangerous amount of recoil that should be worked up to. It generates more pressure and often more recoil than many rifle rounds. Beginning shooters should not attempt to shoot this powerful of a firearm without extensive training and practice.
This video features me (Chris), my wife, and my son. It started with my son wanting to shoot ONE round. Then he said, I should video you shooting a cylinder full. Then my wife decided she should shoot it too.
I had already shot it several times that day and there were 10 rounds left in the box (originally 50). Then wife and son decided to finish the box off for me.
The slow motion really lets you see how much this thing recoils and the amount of FIRE that comes out of this gun. Hopefully you will see why it has the nickname it has.
