The new Rolex Batman, a.k.a.
The new Rolex Batman, a.k.a. the "Rolex Batman Jubilee," which is technically a GMT-Master II reference 126710BLNR, is HOT right now...But would I buy it? Hmmmm...

This review is gonna be on the overly anticipated, but highly overrated Rolex GMT reference number 126710BLNR.
Alright, so Baselworld 2019 obviously passed a long time ago and the watches were released. And the winner for the jubilee band is, the Batman!
I mean, am I crazy about that move? Not really. I think maybe an introduction of the Coca Cola might have been a better play. I don't know how I feel yet about these watches, you know?
I feel like it's obviously nice. I'm not gonna hate on it, so if you're out there dreaming about this watch, dream on! It is a beautiful watch. I just don't know if it was absolutely necessary from Rolex to come out with the Batman, which was already nice with an Oyster band with the jubilee band.
Now it's like put everything on a jubilee band and everything is gonna be OK.
You know, the one thing that bothers me about this watch the most is the hype and the price.
People are buying them. I don't really see the market moving as much, but do I wanna pay $25,000 for a Jubilee Batman? Absolutely not!
So you know, the watch gets released and it's pretty much the same play as the Pepsi. Double retail, you can't get it, waiting list, blah, blah, blah...You know, the ADs are playing us or is Rolex playing the ADs? I don't know what's going on nowadays. It's hard to tell, you know?
But you see I feel like the Pepsi was more justifiable just because it's a remake of a vintage piece, but now with this whole Batman, I don't know. I'm not really crazy about it, you know?
I don't say I hate it. I just, I'm not really sure if I like it for that price.
You see, at retail, I think it would make sense. Ten thousand on a watch? No problem. Twenty thousand dollar watch? Please!
I'll buy a gold piece for that or a steel AP. I just don't really see it that much as a collector or such a solid piece man. I'm crazy over this. People are calling me saying, “Hey, I like to buy a Jubilee band for my Batman.” Guys, Rolex is smarter than that. You think they would make something that you could interchange like that? They don't. You gotta go above and beyond to make that happen.
So I feel like the Pepsi was a good play last year, but I feel like the Batman is gonna put a damper on it. I still think and we're right now in the Summer 2019 that the Pepsi is gonna overshadow the Batman in the jubilee game.
So as far as the actual bracelet is concerned, I think they did a pretty good job. I'm not sure I would have liked the whole hidden clasp, because after all it is a sports model and you want the safety clasp. So I like the job that they did on it. It feels very sturdy and the clasp for me at least is ideal.
Now, my thing about these jubilee watches, they look nice and don't get me wrong, a gold version would be pretty cool too, but I guess I kind of like the jubilee bands on the GMTs more for the vintage watches.
I guess that's just my thing, you know? I like the watch, but I guess I like jubilee better in vintage.
And the price guys. I just still can't get over the price. People are criticizing me saying that we're selling them here at the store, at CRM Jewelers, for $19,000, $20,000. I don't put those price. That's what the market is going for. I wish I can get one at retail, but I can't.
And if I probably did get one at retail, I probably keep it for me. Then in that case, I would jump on the jubilee bandwagon.
So as far as collectability goes, people are calling me and are asking me, “Eric, what do you think about the Batman Jubilee? Do you think it's a collector piece that's gonna appreciate over time?” No! When you're buying something when it's already at the top of its price, how can it go up anymore?
I think right now, there's just like a little craze and a surge going on in this little market and I don't see how it can be more, and if it does go more, I think it's stupid and unsustainable.
Is it a good investment? I don't think so. I think if you could buy it at retail, is a good investment. I think if you're gonna drop over $15,000 for it, you just gotta buy it because you like it, you know?
There's always a chance, but once you're going already over retail, you start playing that game and that little...
