My Chinchillas Bonding and Playing Together

Hi everyone!
The best kind of update: Finn and Knox are getting along beautifully! I'm so excited for these two to become (what looks like will be) the best of friends. Finn is really interested in getting the sweet parts of the relationship going, while Knox is still letting Finn know he's the boss. Watching the mounting may be concerning for non-chin owners, but its is normal, expected, and healthy for pairs to figure out which one is the more dominant of the two. The faster both are okay with their ranks, the faster their bond can grow! A few key points from this video that may help those looking to bond chinchillas:
1. Mounting is normal and expected; I would only intervene if there was a quite a bit of fur slip, excessive and stressed vocalization, or blood drawn. (Blood usually means it will never work out 😔)
2. Furniture in the play space should have multiple exits so they can never be cornered.
3. Using a neutral and scent-free space reduces territorial behavior.
4. An expandable, wire, puppy play pen wrapped in fleece makes a great gate for chin rooms and helps create smaller spaces for bonding.
5. Toys, dust, hay, and some treats can always make their bonding experiences better and help them create a positive association with one another, especially co-dusting!
6. Linus remains the king.
