If you are considering stating with animation, I’d recommend giving Pivot animator a try, because it’s many cool animations made in the software. And it perfect if you what to make simple stick figure animation like Alan Becker’s.

4. Straight Ahead & Pose to Pose - 12...

Make sure to give both of them some support :)

Hotkeys:
Ctrl + "pivot point" = changing the length of that line
Ctrl + "left/right arrow" = changing what figure is marked (like a scroll wheel)
Alt + "pivot point" = rotate and adjust the size
"arrow keys" = changing the position by one pixel
Ctrl + A = marks all figures
A [or whatever is the first letter is on the "Add Frame" button] = Add Frame
, [and] . = move one frame left/right
Ctrl + Z = undo
Ctrl + Y = redo
Ctrl + shift + "mouse pointer" = can mark several figures/frames
