How do trains actually get on the track? What happens before the first regularly scheduled deployment? In Wildenrath near Mönchengladbach, is a test circuit for trains ...

Test track for trains from Siemens
Officially, the terrain is called "Test and Validation Center", and belongs to Siemens. In the 20th century, was there an airfield of the Royal Air Force, today new trains are put into service here, are assembled, tested, checked and delivered. New types of trains such as the ICE 4, drive endless test rounds here until they finally get their stamp from the Federal Railway Authority and can be built in series.

Huge trainshops and 6km endless loop for testing
In a dozen halls constantly are 25 trains being worked on and tested. Heart of the system is a 6 km long test circuit in the form of an oval on which all tests technically required can be undertaken. From above, this test track looks like a model railway.
A film by Bernhard Foos (episode 886 from 08.10.2016)
