"Invincible Presents: Atom Eve" is an interactive graphic novel with a game play element that is aimed at young adults! It invites players to deep dive into an original story from the Invincible universe, following the life of a superhero and making decisions that shape the course of events!
Having watched the show isn't a prerequisite to enjoying the game, but there are a few things you should to know before you play.
Firstly, its definitely more of a interactive Teenage romance comic rather that a superhero game, where teenage drama, thinking about college and fighting with your parents take up a substantial amount of time. There's only a handful of battles, but the turn based combat system is decent, relying on strategically using limited action points for debuffs and defence, as well as attack. The huge skill tree is mostly pointless however, and only serves to give occasional extra response options or make the few battles slightly easier.
Secondly, its not a real choose-your-own-adventure game, as although the choices you make let you explore different story elements, they have a limited overall impact, as the narrative still progresses in the same overall linear direction. Given the absence of voice acting and the cheapness of the animation, it's noteworthy how restricted the story's divergence can be, but conversely the charm of the writing that is there remains polished through-out.
In conclusion, although the overall interactivity is low, its still a charming story that remains enjoyable over the 4 hours it will take to complete it. There is however very little replay value.
