How to Measure Engine Clearances using Plastigage

Rebuilding an engine can be a very fun project, but there are a few rules to follow. One of them is measuring bottom end clearance to make sure oil clearance is what is specified for the crankshaft bearings as well as rod bearings. In this video, I show how to use Plastigage to measure clearance on a rod bearing in a BMW N55 engine. With this product, you can measure connecting rod clearance and main bearing clearance.
