Type design and visual communication | Akira Kobayashi | TEDxUTokyo

Akira Kobayashi, a font designer who has succeeded worldwide with his main profession in Germany, tells us what “designing words” means. Searching for new designs that everyone has seen and nobody has ever seen, what kind of things is he usually aware of? He would walk us through the world that we usually overlook but is always by our sides. He won two grand prizes at international typeface design competitions and currently resides in Germany. He developed typefaces in collaboration with the renowned font designers Prof. H. Zapf and Mr. A. Frutiger. He has many publications on typefaces and also serves as a jury member in prestigious international typeface design competitions.
