Baby Gorilla Reunited with Her Mother

Baby western lowland gorilla Nayembi, who suffered a severe facial injury earlier this year, was reunited with her mom, Rollie, and some of her troop mates. Animal care staffers say the mother and daughter pair picked up right where they left off. Nayembi has a new playmate in baby Patty, who was born just a few weeks before her in 2012.

All the gorillas will be monitored around the clock before ultimately being reintroduced to their whole troop. Extra privacy is being afforded to Nayembi, Rollie, Bana, and Patty as they continue to bond, so they will not yet be visible to the public.
