Al-Bat'ha (Arabic: البطحاء) is an urban baladiyah and the oldest commercial district of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia,[1] which also includes neighborhoods of al-Manfuhah, ad-Dirah, al-Mansourah, al-Khalidiyyah and parts of Sinaiyah Qadeem.[2] Apart from being a historic flea market,[3] the locality is also famous for its large population of Bangladeshi migrant workers,[4][5] along with significant presence of Indians, Pakistanis, Filipinos and Sri Lankans[6] who altogether dominate around 70% of the economic activity in the downtown.[7] It was made into a municipal division (baladiyah) in 1977 during the reign of King Khalid in order to have a better administration over the area.[8]
