This video explains about Sickle cell anaemia, sickle cell trait or carrier, Sickling test for screening of HbS.
Sickle cell disease is a genetic disease where your red blood cell will become sickle or crescent shaped as result these cells are easily destroyed and causes anaemia.
Mutation in beta globin gene causes this disease. if both the copies of beta globin genes are mutated then a person will develop sickle cell anaemia and if one copy of beta globin gene is mutated and another copy is normal then the person will develop sickle cell trait or carrier.
A person with sickle cell trait will not have any clinical problems except some extreme conditions like severe hypoxia then they may develop sickle cell.
