With an increase in overall width and height, the fourth generation X-Trail has a more dashing appearance than before. It has a genuine SUV feel compared to its smaller sibling, the Qashqai, and its sharper lines convey a more aggressive stance.
Inside, the X-Trail has more in common with the Qashqai than Nissan's more futuristic-looking Ariya EV, which means the cabin feels a little dated. The quality is mostly good and everything feels pretty good, so this is definitely an improvement over the previous model.
Simple ergonomics take priority over flamboyant styling in the X-Trail cabin. We found the slightly stubby gear selector easy to use and we liked that it didn't take up much space on the center console, while the climate controls are all chunky physical buttons and dials rather than sliders or touch-sensitive plastic panels. @tubecars1107
