Changing your brakes is a fairly simple process for the avid DIYer, the job is considered a straightforward, entry-level repair.. Depending on what vehicle you have, this project could take between 45 minutes to 2 hours.

According to Edmunds.com, up to 90 percent your vehicle's brake replacements will involve the front brake pads. This is because most of your car's stopping power comes by way of the front brakes. With the extra work comes extra wear. Therefore, it's always important to inspect your brakes and replace their components as needed. If the rotors are in any way gouged or scarred, have them either replaced or resurfaced. As for the pads, you can change them yourself.

How do you know if brake pads are worn out & you need new ones?
Common issues that will arise when your 2014 Honda Civic brake pads need to be replaced include squealing, screeching, grinding or squeaking when brakes are applied. You may also notice vibrations or pulsation in the pedal or steering wheel. In some cases, you will be adequate to smell a burning fragrance which is a result of the metal contacting the surface as your pads become dry.

How long do Honda Civic brake pads last?  Usually last between 30,000 and 70,000 miles depending on your driving habits.

How much does it cost?  Honda Civic brake pads replacement, which includes parts and labor, can cost anywhere between $150 and $300 per axle depending on the type of brake pads desired and the extent of the damage your previously worn down pads have caused to the other components of your vehicle such as the rotors.
