On November 6, 2023, in Appleton, Wisconsin, officers were tasked with conducting a welfare check on a highly intoxicated female at a local resource center.
The first officer on scene attempted to make sense of the situation by speaking to both the intoxicated female, named Kaysee, and the male employee she was speaking to. According the employee, Kaysee had requested that the police be called for a welfare check on her and so he obliged. Kaysee stated that the employee had given her vodka and that he wanted to call the police.
Kaysee was not cooperative and continually stated she was "fine" and to leave her alone. Eventually, she sat on a table and kicked a mini fridge, prompting her arrest. She was taken to the ground and began screaming and struggling before handcuffs were put on. Eventually, another officer arrived and they escorted Kaysee out of the building through an emergency exit to get out of the building as quickly as possible.
Before Kaysee was placed in the back of a squad car, she hit her head on the back of the squad car. Because of this, officers placed a padded helmet on her head so she could not injure herself further on the way to jail.
Kaysee was charged with resisting or obstructing an officer, bail jumping, and disorderly conduct for her actions. She was found guilty of disorderly conduct and sentenced to 30 days in local jail.
