⛪ One of the most known Chinon Troglodyte sites is The Chapelle Sainte-Radegonde de Chinon. It is dedicated to Sainte Radegonde, a Frankish queen of the 6th century, who retired to the region after the death of her husband, King Clotaire I.
The Sainte-Radegonde chapel is an example of medieval religious architecture and dates back to the 12th century.
It is built of stone and has typical elements of Romanesque art, such as its barrel vaults and semicircular arcades.
The interior of the chapel is renowned for housing well-preserved medieval frescoes, which depict biblical scenes and ornamental motifs of the time.
