Altering the offset on big fat tractor wheels

In this video I remove the wheel rim centres to change the offset by 4.5inches.

First job is to remove the tyres, this proves a difficult job as the wells in the rim are quite deep and the tyre is quite wide! Also, I’m not a tyre fitter.

After the tyres are removed, I measure the offset for reference.
I then use the arc air gouger to blast away the old welds holding the centres in. Once removed, the rim and centre are ground down and cleaned up. Some weld is required to fill in where I’ve taken too much away.
Once both pieces are cleaned up, I use offcuts of box section tacked together to give me the correct new offset and clamp them on the centre. The centre is dropped back into the rim and centralised using a shim. It’s then tack welded into place.
The centre is then further trued up once placed onto the wheel hub where it can be spun around.
When I’m happy with how the wheel runs. It’s welded back in.
Same process for the second wheel.
Last job is to seal up the other side with silicone.

Hope you enjoyed the video.
Thanks for watching.
