The Bell 525 helicopter features the brand new Garmin G 5000 H avionics suite, which will set a high bar in helicopter electronics capability, including extensive graphical systems management, voice control, data logging, synthetic vision and cutting edge communications. Each turbine of the aircraft produces about 2,000 shaft horsepower and is powered by a pair of GE full authority digital engine control fadec turbines. This heli can reach a maximum speed of 165 knots or over 300 kilometers per hour and a maximum range of 560 nautical miles, pushing beyond the 1,000 kilometer mark.
The Bell 525 is a super medium twin with seating for up to 16 people. It has a maximum takeoff weight of over 10 tons or 9,300 kilograms, and a service ceiling of 20,000 feet. This new model’s hefty price tag is arguably justified by many new innovations in avionics and by being the first commercial helicopter to feature fly-by-wire controls with triple redundancies for ensured flight safety. The 525 is still awaiting its final certification tests as of writing, but its reported baseline price is US$ 20 Million.
