Shingles is a painful skin
Shingles is a painful skin rash.it is caused by the varicella zoster virus.Shingles usually appears in a band or a small strip or in one small area on one side of the face or body. It is also called as herpes zoster, it is the same virus which is causing chicken pox which is responsible for shingles also. Shingles occurs when the virus that causes chicken pox, starts up again in your body after you get better from chicken pox. The virus sleeps in your nerve root and in some people it stays dormant and in others, the virus wakes up and causes Shingles. The signs and symptoms of Shingles affects only a small section of the body the signs and symptoms may include pain, numbness, tingling sensation, eruptions and sensitivity to touch, Some patients of Shingles also experience fever headache, sensitivity to light and fatigue. Pain is usually the first symptom of Shingles. Person who are affected with are contagious. A person who is affected with Shingles can pass on the varicella zoster virus to anyone who is not immune to chicken pox. This usually occurs with direct contact through the open sores of the shingles rash. Once affected will develop chicken pox, and not Shingles. Anyone who has a weak immune system or pregnant women or person who is above age the age of 50 should avoid getting affected with the affected person.
