Online PLC Programming Tutorial for Shift Registers - Using The BSR And BSL Bit Shift Instructions.
In this PLC tutorial animation, we look at the BSR (bit shift right) and BSL (bit shift left) instructions used with Programmable Logic Controllers to create shift registers. The input fields for the instructions are discussed inclucing the File, Control, Bit Address, and Length fields. Where and how status bits such as the unload bit, the error bit, the enable and done bits are accessed is also discussed. The demonstration then moves on to a practical example of a bottle line application. Tracking of scrap or damaged product along the line is illustrated step by step using an example shift register.
