Our department offers an accrediated program leading to a Bachelor of Science degree (BS) in Medical Laboratory Science.
The MLS Program consists of four years of study. The first two years or Pre-MLS phase include your general education courses and supporting courses in chemistry and biological sciences. The third year or Upper Division phase begins your major requirements for MLS, with classes in hematology, clinical chemistry, immunology & serology, body fluid analysis, and microbiology & immunohematology (blood banking). The fourth year, the MLS student completes a 20-week practicum rotation ("clinicals") in a hospital laboratory affiliated with the program. Graduates of the program are eligible to take a national certification examination ("boards") for Medical Laboratory Scientist.
