Just two hours by vehicle from Marrakesh one can be high in Morocco's Atlas Mountains amid rushing streams, towering peaks and bucolic Berber villages.

In this video I visit one such village, Imlil. But the video is more about the journey than the destination. And quite a journey it is, through the Agafay Desert (where, yes, there’s a camel ride) and up progressively higher plateaus until landing in the mountains.

Imlil is a quaint town seemingly undisturbed by the visitors who come there to hike its scenic trails connecting nearby villages or to use it as a stepping off point to ascend Mount Toubkal, Morocco’s highest peak.
