Just a quick video to explain basic combat mechanics in Necromunda Underhive Wars

When you perform an attack: :
1. First you roll to bypass evasion ("to hit' you might say)
for ranged this is a base 100%  chance to hit + Attackers Bypass Ranged Evasion minus the Defenders Ranged Evasion minus any bonus Ranged Evasion calculated  for Cover.

For Melee there's a base chance of 100% to hit + Attackers Bypass Melee Evasion Stat minus the Defenders Melee Evasion Stat.

The above determines your chance to have your shot or strike evaded ONLY (nothing to do with grazes).

2. Next you check to Graze. Your base chance to Graze is  O + the Defender's Hit resistance - the attacker's Melee Precision.

Then if your attack has not been evaded or Grazes...

4. THEN  you check to see if it is a normal hit or a critical hit.

All Weapons have a base chance to Crit + the attackers Melee Critical Chance/Ranged Critical Chance minus the defenders Critical Hit Resistance, this gives you your chance to deliver a critical hit instead of a normal hit.

5. After that you calculate the percentage of damage resisted by the defenders total damage absorbtion,  This is: Armour Absorption (for the specific armour piece on the location hit and relevant damage type) + Any damage absorption from skills Minus the attackers Ranged/Melee Penetration stat. The hit location is determined randomnly and the armour for that specific location will be used.

Combat is calculated in this order, so for example you cannot get a Crit if your attack grazed as crit chance only works on "hits" not grazes.
