BMW Bremsflüssigkeit wechseln

In this video, we change the brake fluid of an E91 318i with the help of a vacuum pump. Changing the fluid with the brake pedal is risky, as the master brake cylinder may be damaged. The change is only possible if there is no substantial amount of air in the system (e.g. if the reservoir was empty and the system has drawn air). To bleed the system completely, special BMW software is required (from E90 on).

If the vacuum pump does not sit perfectly on the vent screw, air may be drawn into the pump tubes. This is normal and not critical.

A change is recommended every 2 years.

➥ SW-9, SW-11 + respective ring wrenches

➥ Torque Wrench (10-15 Nm)
➥ Rust Dissolver

Tightening Torques:
➥ SW-9 Screw: 10 Nm
➥ SW-11 Screw: 15 Nm
