Felix Roßbach planned and built his wooden house in Daaden himself. In his hometown, where his roots are, everyone knows each other and he has a lot of helping hands.
Felix actually emigrated to Australia and is even considering staying there, but then love for his homeland wins and Felix comes back to the Westerwald - home. Only there he wants to realize his dream of having his own little house. “I have very old friends and very close friends here, and what could be nicer than being around my old friends again? That was really a big factor and of course my family is here in town. To be a little closer to my parents again, that was really important to me, ”says Felix.
He is an architect himself, from his youth he knows a carpenter, a roofer, a bricklayer and a stove maker - and everyone helps out. "It was somehow important to me that when I am old I can say: I did that with the people from the area and not just with some companies," he says. People know each other in the country and they help each other - including building a house, of course. The more you can do yourself, the more likely the construction project is to be “low budget”.
Together with his college friend Marius, Felix designs his wooden house. 65 square meters including a mini sauna. "My house should have the same luxury as a large house, just a bit more compact, but still stylish and modern," says Felix. He likes minimalism and doesn't need a lot of stuff to be happy, says the house builder.
With around 4,000 inhabitants, Daaden cannot be described as a village. Nevertheless, the Westerwald feels like a child of the village. “When I walk through town, I always meet people - somehow everyone always knows each other over a corner. That's nice, ”he says. And yet he has his peace and freedom - his house is right on the edge of the forest with a view over Daaden. He cannot imagine a more beautiful place in the world where he would like to live.
