A series of powerful major weather systems are moving across the United States this week, bringing “extremely dangerous” blizzard conditions to the center of the country.
The blizzard was expected to wallop portions of Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. Wind gusts of up to and in some cases exceeding 70 miles per hour will create “ferocious blizzard conditions with whiteouts,” forecasters said on Monday.
In Texas, white-out conditions and snow-covered roadways prompted the Texas Department of Public Safety to announce some road closures around Amarillo and the Panhandle Monday, with poor conditions expected to last into Tuesday.
