On August the 8th of 2007, Amanda E. Lewis was accused of drowning her daughter Adrianna Hutto by her 7 year old son AJ. Lewis made a 911 call stating that she had found her daughter in the above ground swimming pool not breathing. Emergency personnel lifeflighted Adrianna to Bay Medical Hospital. After all life-saving efforts failed Adrianna was pronounced dead. The death was initially treated as an accidental drowning, until her brother A.J. (then 6 years old) was taken to police headquarters by his step grandfather and told police that his mother "dunked" his sister in the pool to punish her. But is his version of a frantic few minutes the truth or is it embellished by his 6 year old imagination- or someone else's? A 6 person jury had to decide and so can you!

Some of Lewis' family believe that his step grandfather "coached" AJ before he met with police. Amanda passed a polygraph test and refused a lesser charge of manslaughter and a 10 year sentence. She has done 3 interviews. One with Ashleigh Banfield, Aphrodite Jones and Piers Morgan insisting she is innocent.

The case went to trial in February of 2008. AJ was the first to testify. He gave several different accounts as to what happened the day his sister died. Initially he said his "mommy dunked" his sister. He also said that she fell into the pool while scooping out bugs. Both the prosecutor and defense attorney were asking leading questions trying to confuse the boy.

After four days of testimony and only two hours of deliberation (including lunch) the jury found Lewis Guilty of First degree felony murder and aggravated child abuse. In March that same year, Lewis was sentenced to life in prison without parole and an additional 30 years for aggravated child abuse. She is currently serving her sentence at the Lowell Correctional Institute in Ocala, Florida.
