This image of Jupiter's moon Europa was acquired by Webb's NIRCam (Near Infrared Camera). Webb discovered carbon dioxide on Europa's frozen surface, which is believed to originated in the moon's underlying ocean. This discovery has significant ramifications for Europa's ocean's potential habitability. The moon looks predominantly blue because it is brighter at shorter infrared wavelengths. The white features correspond to the Powys Regio (left) and Tara Regio (centre and right) chaotic terrains, which have elevated carbon dioxide ice on the surface. Credit: NASA, ESA, CSA, G.
