Andy Warhol and Keith Haring join forces to design the Festival's 20th edition poster ; the Festival itself is fully booked even before the first concert – fabulous audience enthusiasm undoubtedly explained by the Festival's exceptional musical programming. Present on the Casino stage are Chris Rea, Luther Allison, Wayne Shorter with Jim Hall et Michel Petrucciani, Sade, The Robert Cray Band, Otis Rush, Miles Davis, Matt Bianco, George Benson, Gilberto Gil as well as John Mayall, Chaka Khan, Chico Buarque, Anita Baker and Dr. John. One high point of this anniversary edition is a concert by Eric Clapton & Friends with Phil Collins on the drums ; the other is the McCoy evening with Joe Henderson, John Scofield and Freddie Hubbard joining the pianist on stage.
