The Princess of Asturias, Princess Leonor, will collect the Medal of Aragon and the Medal of the Cortes of Aragon, the two highest distinctions will awarded in the Autonomous Community, as well as the title of Adoptive Daughter of Zaragoza.
The president of the Cortes of Aragon, Marta Fernández, presides over the ceremony of awarding the Medal of the Cortes to the Princess of Asturias, Leonor de Borbón. Subsequently, and before continuing with her institutional program in Zaragoza, she will sign the Book of Honor of the Cortes in the Throne Room.
The awards presentation ceremony will take place in the Cortes of Aragón, the City Hall of Zaragoza and in the Seo del Salvador. The president will intervene in this last act, in which the princess will speak a few words.

Spain’s Princess Leonor is set to receive the Medal of Aragon at the Cathedral of the Savior in Zaragoza, an honor approved by the regional executive during the Governing Council. This award, as stated in the decree, recognizes her for “winning the general affection of the Aragonese people and demonstrating a special sensitivity towards the region.”
Furthermore, Princess Leonor will be honored with the title of Adoptive Daughter of Zaragoza at the city council, a distinction confirmed by the municipal plenary on April 25. This title is bestowed to “acknowledge the city’s affection for the Princess of Asturias, to appreciate her significance for both the Aragonese capital and Spain, and to express gratitude for her connection to the city.”
The title of Adoptive Daughter of Zaragoza is awarded to individuals distinguished by their merits or contributions, particularly in cultural, scientific, social, artistic, political, or economic domains, or through services that benefit the city.
His Majesty the King was previously granted this title following its approval in a plenary session on May 5, 1986, coinciding with his tenure at the Military Academy of Zaragoza, at an age similar to that of the Princess. The City Council’s intention is also to recognize Princess Leonor for her ongoing relationship with the city, where she is presently undergoing military training.
On the same day, the Princess of Asturias will receive the Medal of the Courts of Aragon at the Aljafería Palace in Zaragoza, the highest accolade conferred by the regional parliament. His Majesty the King was awarded this medal in 1986 when he held the title of Prince of Asturias and was a student at the General Military Academy of Zaragoza.
The Medal of the Courts was established in 1986 with the goal of enhancing the prestige of individuals, organizations, or institutions that are recognized for their commitment to defending and promoting Aragonese values and identity.
