Wasps are among the most feared and hated animals in the world, and few are as notorious as the cow killer, the Eastern Velvet Ant. There are all sorts of myths that are spread about wasps, but it is often the case that they are not based in any scientific fact. Today we want to track down one of these incredible insects to prove that they do not deserve their aggressive reputation.

This adventure was possible thanks to the knowledge and generosity of our good friend Spencer Hoffman, who not only made our whole North Carolina trip possible, but also guided us through some incredible habitats and helped us find innumerable amazing animals.
