Morghe sahar (مرغ سحر |
Morghe sahar (مرغ سحر | translated as Dawn Bird/Bird of Dawn) is an Iranian tasnif written by Morteza Neidavoud and Mohammad-Taqi Bahar in early 20th century under the influence of Iranian constitutional revolution. Bahar wrote the poem while imprisoned. This piece was first recorded in 1927 by Iran-ol-dole Helen or Taj Esfahani and later performed by numerous Iranian singers including Mohammad-Reza Shajarian, who passed away yesterday due to kidney cancer.
Shajarian's voice was regarded as one of Iran's national treasures. He had earned the title of Ostad — Master — and was beloved for his commanding voice that could cry with haunting pain and soar with deep soul. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
