no one does longing like him. a mini short film? cinematic vlog? of hong kong streets at night, inspired by wong kar wai's cinematography. a little less dreamy a little more air pollution
my favorite movie of 王家衛 is Happy Together 春光乍洩 (1997), with Leslie Cheung and Tony Leung trapped in Buenos Aires, and cinematographer Christopher Doyle. it's got such a range of stills and imagery beyond the usual night/neon aesthetic that grip me. and of course the upside down shots of hong kong - despite being a small segment, reveals plenty on the conflicted yearning for home that we never see. i typically shoot in daylight (for a mash of that wes anderson vibe) but there's something quite different about it now
(maybe i should've added some black and white monochrome shots BUT some of the raw footage had gorgeous colors w/o colorgrading..)
camera: canon g7x mark iii and my samsung (if u notice the quality drop lol)
video editing, colorgrading software: adobe premiere pro
