Infections of the cartilage are common after ear piercing .It may happen due to infection which may happen during piercing in unhygienic settings. There can be reactions of the metal. As a result there is fluid collection in that area and the infection can cause swelling or pustules or bumps in the pinna. This is something which can ebb localized or can spread to the cartilage.
