First, a 3D model needs to be designed. This model can be created using computer-aided design software or made by hand. Then, a wax replica of the model is made. This can be done using 3D printing or hand-carving wax blocks.

Next, multiple wax molds are assembled into a complete model and then immersed in a liquid containing multiple layers of ceramic powder. The ceramic shell is applied layer by layer and reinforced after each layer has dried.

Once the ceramic shell is complete, it is placed in a high-temperature furnace to burn out the wax and solidify the ceramic shell. Molten metal is then poured into the resulting cavity and allowed to cool. The ceramic shell is opened, and the metal casting is removed.
