About the Game:
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a life simulator video game developed by Nintendo EPD. Directed by Aya Kyogoku and produced by Hisashi Nogami, it is the fifth main line Animal crossing title and the first game to hit a main Nintendo home console since the Wii. The last installment for the series was Animal Crossing Pocket Camp for mobile games and before that there was Animal Crossing: New Leaf for Nintendo’s 3DS portable system. Animal Crossing: New Horizons was released on March 20, 2020.
Just like other Animal crossing installments the player is given the freedom to shape their town to their liking while playing in real-time. The game is nonlinear in design meaning there is no set predetermined path. Players can explore their island to their hearts content while interacting with other animal villagers and/or visitors. Unlike past Animal Crossing titles, New Horizons implements a crafting system allowing players to craft tools and items needed to develop their villages. Players can also buy items to help with the decorating process. Animal Crossing: New Horizons gives players unprecedented control. Players can now choose their facial features whereas past games used a questionnaire system in the beginning to determine how their character would look. You can even determine where an animal villager can set up their home, something not offered in past titles. Players now have the ability to select the hemisphere in which they are located for more accurate seasonal weather. Windy weather was introduced in New Horizons and is expressed by the movement of the leaves on the trees.
Other characters make a reappearance, like Isabelle from Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Mr. Resetti who is now in charge of the rescue service (a function that a player can use if he or she is stuck in the game). New Horizons supports both local and online co-op modes. Don’t get rid of your old amiibos just yet, because the game supports it!
Overall reception to the games has been unanimously positive. Making it one of the most highly rated games to date for the Nintendo Switch console!
