Snapchat has joined the short-form video social media squad with their newest feature called Spotlight. Spotlight is essentially Snapchat’s version of TikTok and IG Reels where creators can make 60 second videos that show up in a feed within the app. To incentivize creators, Snapchat is paying top viewed videos made by creators 16 and older from a fund of 1 million dollars everyday through the end of 2020. In this tutorial, we show you how to get the spotlight feature and make Spotlights so you can start earning money. Spotlight has some useful editing features: you can record multi-segment videos, trim clips, add music, text, stickers, and more. However, users can’t combine videos and images to make Spotlights in the app, so we’ll show how you can still do this using a free online editor called Kapwing.
How to make a Spotlight on Snapchat:
1. Record a video 60 seconds or less using Timeline, or select one video from your camera roll
2. Add text, doodles, music, stickers, or other visual elements
3. Click “Send to”
4. Select “Spotlight”, add a hashtag, and post!
