The South African Reserve Bank
The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) will mark 100 years of existence this week.
Since it was established in 1921, the institution has steered through the devastating impact of the Great Depression; the introduction of a single currency and the introduction of the Rand in 1961, among others. To mark this milestone, the bank will launch a commemorative coin later this week….But to help us better understand the history and function of the South Afrcan Reserve Bank, as well as to talk about the commemorative coin, we are now joined by Pradeep Maharaj who is the Chief Executive responsible for currency management at the South African Reserve Bank, as well as Honey Mamabolo who is Managing Director at SA Mint.
