Potato pieces cooked with green peas in spicy onion tomato masala.

ALOO MATAR

Ingredients

2 medium potatoes (aloo), peeled and cut into cubes
½ cup green peas (matar)
1 tablespoon oil
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 medium onion, chopped
Salt to taste
½ cup tomato puree
1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
½ teaspoonturmeric powder
1 teaspoon red chilli powder
1 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander leaves
1 teaspoon garam masala powder

Method

1. Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add cumin seeds and sauté till fragrant. Add onion and salt, mix and sauté till onion turns golden.
2. Add tomato puree and mix well. Add ginger-garlic paste, mix, cover and cook for 2-3 minutes.
3. Add cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, chilli powder and chopped coriander and mix well. Add potatoes, green peas, mix and cook for a minute.
4. Add garam masala powder and ½ cup water, mix, cover and cook on medium heat till potatoes are done.
5. Serve hot garnished with a coriander sprig.

Preparation Time: 5-8 minutes
Cooking Time: 10-15 minutes
