This video is a review of Singapore airlines’ world’s longest flight from Singapore to Newark on the Airbus A350-900 ULR aircraft. In October of 2018, Singapore airlines re-launched this 18 hours service with their state of the art ultra long range A350 that is configured with 67 business class and 94 premium economy class seats.
My itinerary with Singapore airlines departed from Ahmedabad in India because of a lucrative fare (2300USD roundtrip) in business class. The award space on this flight is exclusively opened to Krisflyer members which is challenging to book for the most so the best way to fly this route is to pay cash on a lucrative fare.
This is also my first longhaul flight with Singapore airlines, nominated in 2018 as the World’s best airline. The business class hard product is the widest in the commercial industry and the service provided by Singapore girls is on par with the crew from world class carriers such as Cathay Pacific.
The World’s longest flight is a milestone for myself as well as other avgeeks but I have to say that I am not as enthusiastic after flying this route. After frequently flying Cathay’s 16 hours service between Hong Kong to New York, I barely perceived the extra hour in this flight after spending over half of the flight sleeping. Singapore airline could definitely polish their business class product and introduce more premium services on a flight of this length to bring more excitement as opposed to conventionality. I arrived in New York well rested but the flight itself had nothing special and I would not prefer spending another 17 hours on the same aircraft again.
