Solaris is a 2002 American science fiction drama film directed, written, cinematographied and edited by Steven Soderbergh and starring George Clooney and Natascha McElhone. It is based on the 1961 science fiction novel "Solaris" by Polish writer Stanisław Lem. Reflecting on Andrei Tarkovsky's critically acclaimed 1972 Russian film "Solaris" (which was itself preceded by a 1968 Russian TV film), Soderbergh promised to be closer in spirit to Lem's novel.[2]
Soderbergh's version is a meditative psychodrama set almost entirely on a space station orbiting Solaris, adding flashbacks to the previous experiences of its main characters on Earth. Chris struggles with the questions of Solaris' motivation, his beliefs and memories, and reconciling what was lost with an opportunity for a second chance.

Here is a movie which portrays the nature of solipsism as a metaphysically meaningful polarity in consciousness when a consciousness exists in a condition where it cannot be certain of the actual contents of other consciousnesses.  This is a fundamental feature of our own existence, at least to varying degrees depending upon the class of the consciousness in question and its conditions and environment, especially on whether it is a consciousness which is in the act of deceiving or being deceived.  The crucial difference is that a deceiving consciousness may or may not know that it itself is deceiving, may be incapable of knowing, but it is still yet not validly what it appears to be, and this has crucial consequences for a deceived being who may not even know that such deceptions are even possible, since he has no "inside knowledge" of other consciousnesses to go on.

Yet discrepancies can be detected, even in our world where the worldly conditions and the processes of reincarnation are set up to prevent such awareness and to suppress it and eventually destroy its possibility, making for a permanently imprisoned victim of deception.  Key is the means of using a consciousnesses attachments to its incarnate identities and associations with other entities and with certain experiences as a means to "hook" that being into further entrapments, causing them to gradually become more oblivious to even obvious discrepancies in the nature of things going on which are really illusions but which he takes to be his normality, and so takes to be truly real by mere default.

It is always to be remembered that flexibility of interpretation is key in order to maximize the value of experiencing any art phenomomena, since only this  way can we be sure to get the most value for our efforts by taking from it what is Truly Meaningful to the Ultimate Reality of our Nous, and learn how to disregard what is irrelevant, detracting, or even contrary to the Truth.
