The Alexander Garden was opened in 1874 and named in honour of Emperor Alexander II. The first thing that catches your eye is the majestic Admiralty building with the famous golden ship on the spire. The city elite and the protagonist of Alexander Pushkin's famous novel "Eugene Onegin" used to stroll under the shade of trees in this garden. There is a beautiful fountain and several monuments in the garden, among which the most famous is the monument to Peter the Great, also known as the "Bronze Horseman".
