Detroit rising star Skilla Baby not only embodies the harsh stories of the streets, but the humility it breeds to handle success. The 24-year-old rapper, whose taste includes inspirations such as Anita Baker, Lil Wayne, Luther Vandross, Ella Mai and Tupac among others, is a beacon of authenticity in a genre that's filled with fronts and facades. Skilla is much more than a street rapper, he's an oncoming anomaly that strives to make every moment special. "My music is sacred to me," he said. "Like when I put out songs, it's a moment for me. I want them to have a moment. My favorite artist is Anita Baker, and all of her songs really have a moment where you could be going through this or something completely different, you'd be able to relate to it."

Working alongside Tee Grizzley, Luh Tyler ("Millionaire"), Sada Baby, Rob49 ("Mama") and more, Skilla's co-signs span from bona fide superstars like Brent Faiyaz and Chris Brown to street icons like G Herbo ("B'CUZ") and Lil Baby. Off the back of his collaborative project with Tee Grizzley, 'Controversy,' which includes his top-streamed track "Gorgeous" (earning a remix from the City Girls), it's hard to turn your head away from Skilla's "organic" aura. Amid the co-signs and the release of his latest album 'We Eat The Most,' Skilla, for all intents and purposes, doesn't let the fame fog what's really in front of him — especially concerning his signature car freestyles. "I don't want to water it down, and put a big camera around me. I like doing that because it's organic, it's organically me," he said. "I still gotta enjoy life and do me. With all the stuff I have going on, it's still important to enjoy real life — and that's my real life."

OGM host Hakeem Rowe sat down with Skilla Baby to speak on his come-up, co-signs, new music, fashion, meet-ups with Lil Baby, Chris Brown and so much more in our latest Our Generation Music exclusive interview.
