Heritage Wood Floor Restoration in Dumfries' Crichton Hall

Border Floor were recently commissioned to undertake a full restoration of a forgotten solid oak plank floor dating back to 1839. For decades it had been hidden beneath layers of carpet and lino. It was only when work to redevelop the Crichton Hall site into a 5 star hotel got under way that the forgotten floor was rediscovered. Border Floor were selected to carry out a full floor restoration project. Here Jason Edmunds, MD of Border Floor shows off the newly uncovered wooden floor in its earliest stages of denailing and exploratory sanding to assess the work required.
