Hong Kong-based Hanson Robotics, perhaps most famous for its humanoid Sophia who sold the first artwork created by a robot for $688,000, is pivoting to the healthcare possibilities of robotics during the COVID-19 pandemic. Sophia’s sister, Grace, is being developed specifically for the healthcare sector.  David Hanson, the founder and CEO of the company, says that achieving an "illusion of life" in his robots can help them become more effective caregivers and they are not meant to replace doctors and nurses, but to assist them. Hanson adds that that the pandemic has accelerated interest in the application of robots in our daily lives. According to the International Federation of Robotics, global sales of professional service robots had already increased 32 percent to $11.2 billion between 2018 and 2019. For CNN's Tech for Good, Kristie Lu Stout meets Sophia and Grace to get a glimpse into how robotics can revolutionize healthcare.
