This 3D model built on COMSOL multi-physics demonstrates the Piezoelectric effect where a piezoelectric conductors are made into upper and lower cantilevers with a dielectric material in between. When the whole structure is under stress such that it deflects up or down one layer suffers from compression while the other suffers from tension so a potential difference is achieved between the upper and lower layers.
This device is the core of any piezoelectric energy harvester and also can be used to sense force or displacement by sensing the voltage drop across upper and lower layers.
In this model I make an accurate modeling for Piezoelectric energy harvester/sensor on Comsol to study its behavior and get the relation between deflection and accumulated potential difference.
