The Fall Guy - a smash-up classic from the early 1980s.
But Producer Glen A. Larson didn't sell The Fall Guy in the traditional way.
He heard a song by his friend, Canadian musician David Somerville (of the Diamonds and their hit "Little Darlin'"). The song was written for a CBS TV special about stuntmen. Larson happened to hear Somerville strumming it and thought it would make a great TV series concept.
After a little rewriting, Larson brought Somerville into ABC and played two executives the song. It sold in the room. And The Fall Guy – The Unknown Stuntman – was born.
